On October 1–2, the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, together with five local tourism partners and Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), participated in a series of events held in Rome and Milan, Italy.
The event in Rome was attended by Fuad Naghiyev, chairman of the State Tourism Agency, Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, Khagani Hajiyev, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Italy, and Ilgar Mukhtarov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Holy See (Vatican).
The series of events brought together 80 Italian travel companies and representatives of Azerbaijan’s tourism industry for B2B meetings and networking sessions with the participation of Italian media representatives. Presentations showcased Azerbaijan’s hospitality sector, health tourism projects, and cultural tourism opportunities.
The event also featured a live performance by Azerbaijani pianist and composer Isfar Sarabski.
As part of the visit to Italy the Azerbaijani delegation also took part in the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit, held in Rome from September 28–30. The summit gathered high-level speakers, including Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, UN Tourism Secretary-General Sheikha Nasser Al Nowais, and senior executives of leading international tourism companies.
It should be noted that direct flights operate daily from Milan to Baku by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), and four times a week from Rome to Baku by Wizz Air.
